This year's Australian grain export season started in February and will run through to May 2017, which impacts heavily on export bookings of 20' containers. Due to good rains during in 2016 and a mild summer overall, bumper crops have now erupted. Wheat, barley, oats, cotton seed and rice are booked by the grain traders at levels of 50 to 150 containers per vessel. Just two of those bookings can take up an entire port of call vessel allocation, which swallows up any available 20' container slots.

Export bookings for 20' containers have blown out to a month waiting time before a slot can be secured so if you have a pending 20' export, we encourage you to book it well in advance of requirement or it will be a one month wait for a slot.
