VICT - Infrastructure Surcharge
VICTORIA International Container Terminal has written off imposing an infrastructure surcharge. This follows a decision two weeks ago by DP World Australia to hike infrastructure surcharges for transport operators using their West Swanson and Port Botany terminals, citing high rents and council taxes.

Speaking at the Container Transport Alliance of Australia (CTAA)lunch in Melbourne the other day, VICT manager of operations Tony Desira said they had no desire to follow suit. “We have no intent to put an infrastructure charge in place,” Mr Desira told the gathering. “Our infrastructure has been well and truly paid for from our point of view so it’s about making money now.”

Mr Desira also announced the next container ship set to berth at VICT on 2 April is the the OOCL Busan.
