SM Line Growth
After the fall of Hanjin Shipping line, Samra Midas Group (SM Group) came onto the scene to compete alongside their Korean rival Hyundai Marine Merchant (HMM). Seven months young, SM Group have announced its plan to grow by acquiring a further nine 8500 TEU and 5000 TEU container ships to add to their 26 ships and will launch new services from Asia to the Pacific North-west and US East Coast before the year's end.

Currently, SM Group only operates intra-Asia and one trans-Pacific service but wants to add India, Indonesia and other South East Asian destinations sooner rather than later. SM also controls two former Hanjin terminals at Gwangyang and Incheon and says it is eyeing more terminal assets, particularly in the United States, South Korea, China, and Vietnam.
